Bicyclist Hit by Dump Truck in Charlestown on Thursday Marks the First Bicycle-related Death in Greater Boston This Year

A dump truck driver ran over a bicyclist on Thursday in Charlestown. The operator of the dump truck kept driving but Boston police were able to identify him and track him down. The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene.

The operator of the dump truck is identified as Ricky Prezioso, a 41 year old man from Swampscott. Mr. Prezioso was arraigned on Friday and pleaded not guilty to leaving the scene of the accident. He claims that the cyclist must have run into him and that he never saw the victim. Mr. Prezioso’s record indicates he was involved in a car accident in April, 2013 in Malden, and received a speeding ticket in Chelsea in 2009.
